A thick kitchen cloth woven from microfibre in a fine striped loop pile, with the edge turned and overlocked in a contrasting binding so it does not fray or curl after washing. The pile is dense enough to lift dried-on food and grease off a plate in one pass and to hold a lot of water, and it wrings out hard rather than staying sodden. Because both faces are built up thick, the folded cloth also works as a pad for lifting a hot pan lid or standing a hot dish on.
