A desktop enclosure that turns a bare SATA hard drive or SSD into an external drive. The drive slides into the bay and connects to a computer over USB-A or USB-C at 5 to 6Gbps, with a mains adapter supplying the extra power a 3.5-inch mechanical drive needs. Plastic bodies use a double-wall base with padding to damp vibration; aluminium bodies add vented panels that draw heat off the drive.
