A folding riser built from a flat brushed metal base plate, a scissor arm on two pivots and a top plate with a raised lip at the front. Because the two joints move independently, the height and the tilt are set separately, so the same stand can hold a tablet low and flat for writing or lift a laptop high and steep for typing at a desk. The lip along the front edge catches the base of the machine so it cannot slide off at a steep angle, and the wide base plate keeps the load stable.
